Metabolic engineering focuses on the rational redesign of cellular metabolism to enhance the production of valuable compounds and improve biological performance. The research combines synthetic biology, systems biology, and computational approaches to engineer microbial platforms with improved productivity, robustness, and resource utilization.
Major focus areas include pathway engineering, carbon flux optimization, cofactor balancing, and scalable bioprocess development for the production of biofuels, bioplastics, pharmaceuticals, terpenoids, flavors and fragrances, and other high-value biomolecules.
