Details: Prof. K.G. Adiyodi was a visionary zoologist, academic leader, and science policy advocate whose pioneering work in invertebrate reproductive physiology earned global acclaim. He co-founded the International Society for Invertebrate Reproduction and Development and co-edited the landmark 12-volume Reproductive Biology of Invertebrates. As Vice Chancellor of CUSAT and a member of the UPSC, he shaped both scientific thought and institutional governance. His legacy lives on through the Dr. K.G. Adiyodi Memorial Lecture Series, inspiring generations of researchers. Prof. Adiyodi’s life exemplified the fusion of rigorous scholarship, educational reform, and unwavering commitment to advancing biological sciences in India.
To honor the enduring legacy of Prof. K.G. Adiyodi, a visionary invertebrate biologist and academic reformer, the CVJ-Centre for Synthetic Biology and Biomanufacturing (CSB) is proud to launch a series of scientific talks under the Dr. K.G. Adiyodi Memorial Lecture Series. This initiative celebrates his contributions to biological sciences and higher education, fostering dialogue at the intersection of research, innovation, and policy. The inaugural lecture was be delivered by Dr. Binu Philip, Senior General Manager at Zydus Research Centre, Zydus Lifesciences Ltd., on the topic: “New Drug Discovery in India – Moving from ‘Best in Class’ to Pioneering ‘First in Class’ Discoveries”
With over 25 years of experience in pharmaceutical R&D, Dr. Philip brings a unique interdisciplinary perspective shaped by his academic background in organic medicinal chemistry, law, patents, and international business management. His talk will explore India’s evolving drug discovery landscape, highlighting the shift from incremental innovation to breakthrough therapeutics.
This event marks a meaningful beginning to a lecture series that aims to inspire scientific excellence and honor the spirit of inquiry championed by Prof. Adiyodi.
